Your wake boat allows you to take on watersports enthusiasts such as wakeboarders, wakesurfers, and water skiers to give them a high-octane thrill out on the water. In order to do this, the boat generates wakes off the stern using a combination of features and ballast. However, sometimes your wakes may not be as big as you or your sports performers would like. Here are some of our tips on how to improve the wakes your boat generates.

Steering Carefully

In order for your wake boat to create good wakes that last, you have to be a good boat operator. If you swerve around too much, the wakes will crash (and so will your riders). You’ll need to steer in a straight line. You’ll also need to maintain a consistent speed, which is where a cruise-control option on your wake boat comes in handy.

Using Ballast

Ballast, or weight, is used on wake boats to push the stern down deeper into the water. This, in turn, typically increases the size of the wakes the boat generates. You’ll want to use ballast carefully without overloading your boat to get the stern at just the right depth for perfect wakes.
